Wayne Pontin - The Journey

Wayne Pontin’s journey is built on football, mental health, and community.

Like many, Wayne found football at a time when routine, connection, and belonging mattered most. Through personal challenges, he experienced first-hand how being part of a team can support mental wellbeing — providing purpose, structure, and a sense of not being alone.

Those experiences shaped a clear vision: football should support people, not just performance.

Through Swansea Vale FC, Wayne helped create a club where mental health is taken seriously, conversations are open, and everyone is welcomed for who they are. The focus goes beyond results, using football as a positive outlet to build confidence, connection, and resilience.

Wayne’s journey continues with one simple aim:

to use grassroots football as a force for good — supporting mental health, strengthening community, and creating a true sense of belonging. 🧡🖤
